Djurgarden v Elfsborg (Allsvenskan)A poor run of form in the run up to the summer break has seen Djurgården slip down to 8th place in the league. Injuries to key players, as well as a spate of suspensions contributed, but general poor play and tactics were the main factors. Whilst they are not completely out of the title race, it will take a very impressive set of results to catapult them into the pack chasing Kalmar. For the visit of in form Elfsborg, Touray will take up his usual place in goals. Davids returns to the team following suspension, while Johannesson and Kuivisto will play in the middle. Tauer misses out through suspension and his place will be taken by either Ceesay or Per Johansson. In the midfield, Riihilahti is still not fit and will not return until sometime next month. Nazare or new signing from GAIS, Prince Ikpe Ekong, will therefore play in the holding midfield role. Komac and top scorer Rajalakso are suspended, so Jonson and Andersson will probably come in. Kusi-Asare could drop back to add some width and pace out wide. Up front, Dahlberg and Thiago will be expected to get the goals, although neither could count themselves as prolific. The Stockholm side will face a very difficult match against Elfsborg, who seem determined to land their second title in three years. With so many suspensions, a point could be deemed a decent result.
Elfsborg are the form team in Sweden at present. After a slow start, they put together an excellent set of results as the league stopped for the summer. For the trip to Stockholm, Sweden international Wiland will once again be in goals. Lucic and Andersson will be the centre backs, with Floren and Karlsson completing the defensive unit. Elfsborg¡¦s midfield is arguably the best in the country, boasting no fewer than three international players. Fresh from Sweden¡¦s euro campaign, Anders Svensson will be the main attacking threat. Bajarami will sit in the defensive role, giving Ilola the freedom to roam. Ishizaki is a very dangerous player on the right wing, while Mobaeck should keep his place on the left. Up front, Berglund has made the lone striking role his own, dislodging Sjohage in the process. Elfsborg will be confident going into this game, although a trip to Stockholm is never an inviting prospect. However, with a defence that has lost just three goals in eleven games, they will expect to take something from a Djurgården team that appears to be in freefall.
